Job Description: 

Job Summary:As a Junior Accountant, you support the Finance Department in day-to-day accounting and budgeting tasks. Your role includes assisting in the preparation of financial reports, maintaining financial records, helping with budget tracking, and supporting internal control processes. You work closely with the senior finance team to ensure accurate data entry, compliance with internal policies, and timely execution of financial operations. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow within a structured finance environment, particularly in a retail setting.

 

Key Accountabilities and Activities:Accounting and Financial Records:Assist in maintaining general ledger accounts and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.Prepare journal entries, reconcile bank statements, and maintain supporting documentation.Ensure accuracy of accounting data entry in the ERP system (SAP).

Budget Assistance:Support the budget preparation process by collecting data and inputting approved numbers into financial systems.Track departmental expenses against budgets and flag any discrepancies.Assist in the preparation of budget reports and variance analysis.

Reporting and Analysis:Help compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Assist in preparing basic financial statements, charts, and PowerPoint presentations for internal use.Work with the senior finance team to analyze financial data and provide insights as required.

Internal Controls and Compliance:Ensure all financial records comply with internal control policies and audit standards.Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting procedures.Assist in the documentation of business processes.

Cash Flow and Expense Monitoring:Monitor petty cash and other daily cash activities under supervision.Assist in reconciling accounts payable and receivable.Report irregularities in cash flow or spending to senior staff.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.1–3 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a retail or multi-location environment.Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Basic experience with ERP systems (SAP is a plus).Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.Good written and verbal communication skills.High level of integrity and responsibility.
